The Rotary Club of the City of Wolverhampton offers small grants of up to £1,000 to local organisations that meet the Club’s funding criteria. These criteria have recently been reviewed to ensure the Club’s limited funds are used effectively and deliver meaningful local impact.
Grants are intended to support organisations working with local people whose circumstances place them at a disadvantage, including those affected by health issues, deprivation, or limited opportunities. The aim is to improve wellbeing and outcomes for individuals and communities most in need.
Funding is awarded on a competitive basis. Successful applications will demonstrate a clear and significant impact or address an identifiable individual or community need. Some organisations previously funded under other small grant schemes may be invited to apply, and Club members are encouraged to recommend suitable projects.
Grant funding must be used to directly improve the wellbeing of local people. Applications solely intended to support routine operational costs or to hold unrestricted cash reserves will not be considered. Applicants must demonstrate appropriate management arrangements, proportionate to the size and nature of their organisation, and clear accountability to stakeholders.
Priority will be given to projects supporting specific target groups, including:
- Young people, through access to positive activities that reduce the risk of antisocial behaviour
- Children with special educational needs, to help them achieve their full potential
- Disabled people, to support independence and personal aspirations
- Individuals and families experiencing poverty, including support with essential needs such as food, clothing, education, or financial hardship
- Learning and skills development that supports daily living
- Opportunities for young people to participate in events and activities that build skills and confidence
- Older and disabled people requiring support to manage everyday needs
